Cate Blanchett Gossip

Brad & Cate in the water

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - the 2nd trailer has been released featuring more of a stunning redheaded Cate Blanchett, glimpses of a love scene between her and Brad, and the two of them in the water so beautifully shot it's not hard to understand why the industry has been buzzing about the film for so long if only for its visual stimulation. Australia’s true queen

Granny Freeze likes to think of herself as Nicole Kidman, Queen of Australia but please…we all know the truth. And the truth is this: Gran isn’t even worthy of holding Cate’s umbrella. Cate Blanchett and her husband Andrew Upton attended the Helpmann Awards the other night – as you can see, Cate is clearly still breast feeding. Full Story

Face to Face With Cate

Can’t believe she gave birth 5 weeks ago. Crazy talk. She was wearing a satin grey jumper with Balenciaga heels. Pink lips, little foundation, the most stunning creature you’ve ever seen. I told her I couldn’t believe she just had a baby 5 weeks ago. Then she grabbed her breasts and said “well these weren’t here before!” and threw back her head and laughed like the Queen. Full Story

Cate at Blindness

Cate Blanchett attended the opening gala at Cannes for Blindness last night. This is not a forgiving colour. Not a colour for a woman four weeks after giving birth who might have some insecurities. Clearly, Cate Blanchett is not that woman. Of course she isn’t. Cate is here for Indiana Jones. Full Story

Cate to Cannes

Indiana Jones will premiere in Cannes. The line up for that screening will probably be a mile long. The good news? Cate Blanchett is headed there! We’re told, along with Harrison Ford and Shia LeBeouf, she will be on hand to present the film which means yes yes yes…Cate Blanchett will be on the red carpet. Full Story

Best Queen: Cate Blanchett

Granny Freeze Nicole Kidman should be taking a pregnancy page out of fellow Aussie Cate’s expectant couture. This is Dries Van Noten and it is exquisite. You should have seen the embroidery on the skirt – it was like something out of Versailles circa Louis XIV. Ridiculous. And she is HUGE. Full Story

SAGs to be the Oscars?

The Writer’s Guild will be picketing the Golden Globes this year and if a resolution is not hammered out by then, few – if any – actors will be crossing the line to attend the awards. The Screen Actors Guild however just announced their nominees today. Given that the SAG has long been supportive of the WGA, it was no surprise when it was revealed that it had reached an interim agreement with the WGA allowing writer’s to write for the event and opening the door for nominees to gussy themselves up and make a splash on the red carpet…which means that if a deal isn’t reached within weeks of the new year, the SAGs just might be the only awards excitement of the season. Marion Cotillard: Best of 2007

Sorry. I’ve been harping about her for months. But if you’ve seen La Vie en Rose, you know why. And non-English speaking actors are often ignored. Marion Cotillard’s performance as Edith Piaf is nothing short of extraordinary. Even legendary. Some critics have described it as “monumental”, a performance that should, and will, stand up for all time. Full Story

The New Leader

Cate Blanchett’s The Golden Age has not made the impact most predicted. As such, her performance is no longer being regarded as an Oscar favourite. Angelina Jolie’s role in A Mighty Heart is still holding up but the film was released early – back in June – and Academy memories can be short. Full Story

Yes, Yes, Yes!!!

Another Cate Blanchett/Giorgio Armani collaboration…and it is spectacular! Check out Cate at the Rome premiere gala of the Golden Age in a gown worthy of a queen. How many other broads could own a dress like this? A dress for an occasion, a dress that needs to be commanded and tamed, a dress that on anyone else would rule over its owner. Full Story

Ain’t No Other

The superlative-exhausting Cate Blanchett on the cover and on the pages of UK Harper’s Bazaar. The Golden Age opens tomorrow…and if you love Cate in costume, Cate all majestic, Cate showing off her killer skin, and Cate crushing on a swarthy manly man Clive Owen, it might be an enjoyable Friday night out. The Golden Age Giveaway!

If you love Cate Blanchett as I love Cate Blanchett you will love The Golden Age. It’s the way she speaks, it’s the way only she can deliver a performance so authentically regal, it’s the costuming, it’s Clive sodding Owen standing there dripping in hotness tempting her to give up her virginity…again. The Queen in Blue

Cate Blanchett the one and only on the carpet last night at the premiere of The Golden Age. As usual, she is flawless. As usual, she is the epitome of elegance…even in a shapeless gown, Cate owns it like no one else. The Golden Age arrives in theatres next week. If you loved the first, you will also love the second. Cate in Pink

I was greatly disappointed not to have seen Cate Blanchett at TIFF and sadly wasn’t able to attend the screening either. However, early reviews for The Golden Age have been decidedly mixed and while her repeat performance at Elizabeth is undoubtedly strong, it is actually her portrayal of Bob Dylan in I’m Not There that is garnering the most attention, not to mention the inspiration behind Mark Ruffalo’s hilarious outburst... Bale as Bob

Everyone is waiting for I’m Not There, the Bob Dylan biopic directed by Todd Haynes (Far From Heaven) with several high profile actors “interpreting” the legend at various points of his life. The film is so highly anticipated because it is the first project of its kind to have Dylan’s blessing and promises to reveal information never before made public about his personal and professional trials and tribulations. Cate Blanchett was already on her way. Same goes for Clive Owen. And Ryan Gosling. And George Clooney! Calling Oscar...

The Alba Bitch says she doesn’t want to be a sex symbol, that she fancies herself an actor, wants serious roles, does not appreciate pappy attention… At the same time, whenever she has a movie to promote, somehow she appears on magazine covers wearing very little clothing. Kinda like Jessica Biel: wanting more but knowing the TV Girl Truth – at the heart of it, there’s only the Body. Full Story

On pure over the top glamour and pomp, there is no film festival like Cannes. But on star power and prestige, the Toronto International Film Festival – TIFF – is second to none. My hometown pulls out all the stops. Full Story
